There are lots of exciting things happening at Thiel Design this summer!

We are currently working on residential interiors projects in Hudson and Bridgehampton, New York and – one of our favorites – we are designing a nursery in the city near Washington Square for a couple expecting twins. The house we are designing in Weston, Connecticut is located on a beautiful piece of property and takes advantage of glorious views and a lovely sloping landscape. The design is coming along and we hope to start construction sometime in the late fall. On the upper Westside, we are creating a gracious and elegant lobby for a notable Emery Roth building and, as always, Nancy continues the design of her own residence and gardens in upstate New York.

The Southwest Porch at Bryant Park continues to attract a large crowd. The relaxing outdoor lounge is located in a lush corner of the park (at 6th Avenue and 40th Street) and features a pergola with porch swings, rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs. In the evening, strings of Edison bulbs twinkle overhead. ‘Wichcraft caters and, as expected from uber-talented chef Tom Collichio and his partner Jeffrey Zurofsky, serves the best cocktails and appetizers! Please stop by. It’s a great place to hang out on a sultry summer evening.

Nancy is co-founder of Operation Design, a not-for-profit organization based on the belief that great design creates a better environment for learning. Operation Design pairs artists and design professionals with students in New York City public schools, providing mentorships and creative programs. Each project leads to the improvement and renovation of classrooms and key spaces in their schools. This spring, we raised over $42k for our projects with our first fundraiser, Eames Inspiration. We auctioned 20 classic molded plywood Eames lounge chairs re-imagined by some of the city’s most celebrated street and graffiti artists. The chairs will be featured in an exhibit at Art Basel in Miami this coming December. We are thrilled with all of the wonderful support and recognition our efforts are receiving. For information, please go to opdesign.org.

We easily move from interior design to architecture so we are able to tackle a single space, an affordable makeover, or the design of a new residence with equal ease. Please email or call for a consultation.

In the meantime, we hope you’re enjoying your summer!
